Chillicothe Ross Chamber of Commerce
Weekly Update June 6, 2003
DINING CHOICES TO WIDEN: Work should begin shortly on a new Max & Erma’s Restaurant and, if all goes as planned, it will open in September. The restaurant will go in front of Kohl’s and Wal-Mart off North Bridge Street, have 200 seats and an outdoor patio that might overlook the new wetlands area by the Scioto River. It will be a franchise of the company that opened its first restaurant in German Village in Columbus in 1972 and went public with its stock in 1982. It is now in several states in the Midwest. AWARD-WINNING: Your chamber and Horizon Technology were winners at the Inaugural TIGAR Awards Gala held this past week in Logan by the Information Technology Alliance of Appalachian Ohio (ITAAO). The chamber award was for Best Information Technology Implementation by a Non-IT Company. This e-mail newsletter, our ability to take registrations online and our online surveys went into consideration for the honor. Horizon received a TIGAR (Technology Industry Gurus of the Appalachian Region) for Best IT Training Program.
GET THE SCOOP: There’s still time to register for Wednesday’s Networking Luncheon featuring Lissa Cleary of the Ross-Chillicothe Convention and Visitors Bureau. Participants will get a chance to talk about their businesses and a chance at a door prize. It begins at 11:30 a.m. in the back room of the Dock at Water. The charge is $10 per person. CARLISLE TO STAND: There are some very encouraging signs that the Carlisle Building downtown will remain an icon of the city. At a Design Review Board meeting Thursday, the contractor said the turret is structurally sound and that efforts are being made by the owner to see that the architectural integrity remains. The construction wall around the structure, though, is expected to be there for no less than 3 months.
BOOKMARK OUR CALENDAR: When you’re looking to make plans for the weekend or for the month ahead, don’t forget the calendar page on the chamber’s website as a great resource. We try to keep it up to date and we also try to make sure to have links or phone numbers where you can get more information. Or, if you need to refer people to event organizers, it’s a great place to get the information quickly. Try it out: Chamber Calendar page.
IMPRESS YOUR CLASSMATES: The committee for the All-County All-Class Reunion is looking for sponsors for the tents for the various schools and decades that will be in Yoctangee Park the July 4 weekend. Sponsorship is $400 and will include signage and two complimentary full registrations to all events and activities.
