Chillicothe Ross Chamber of Commerce

Weekly Update   January 3, 2003

THE BIG DAY IS (ALMOST) HERE: Well, for some that day is today as Ohio State’s football team goes against powerhouse Miami for the national championship in the Fiesta Bowl. Regardless the outcome, the speaker for our annual dinner should have some interesting tales to tell from his experiences in Tempe this past week. Ben Hartsock, the Unioto graduate who is the starting tight end for the Buckeyes, is the featured guest at the annual dinner to be held Thursday, Jan. 23 at the St. Mary’s Family Life Center on East Fourth Street. Ben, who has been the subject of many news stories across the nation the past month, was featured this week in USA Today. (Hartsock story) To hear his tales and to learn this year’s Entrepreneur of the Year winner, make reservations now. Annual dinner registration

AND SHOW OFF YOUR PRODUCTS AND SERVICES: One good way to get your company’s name and information out is to sponsor a table at the annual dinner. Sponsorship means you get a chance to decorate the table and to hand out any promotional items or other things of your choice. When your guests leave, they’ll remember your name. The cost is $125 and does not include tickets to the event. Call Cami at 702-2722 to sign up or for more information.

SAFETY COUNCIL MEETING THURSDAY: Richard Gilgrist, the new director of the Cincinnati office of OSHA, will be the featured speaker at the monthly Ross County Safety Council meeting Thursday. The meeting will be at the Ross County Service Center on Western Avenue from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Lunch will be served and the cost is $8. And invite a guest as safety meetings are open to non-members as well. Make reservations by calling Carrie at the chamber office at 702-2722.

DON’T FORGET YOUR CENSUS FORM: All businesses should have received questionnaires for the next Economic Census from the U.S. Census Bureau in December. Information from the forms is used by businesses, communities and governments for planning and market development. And, for the first time, the forms may be filed electronically.
