RESERVATIONS NOW BEING TAKEN: There’s no doubt Steve Little will be entertaining, informative and maybe even provocative as the main speaker at the chamber’s Annual Dinner on Wednesday, Feb. 22. He’s spoken to many major companies, organizations and chambers of all sizes on his message of growing businesses. The Miami University grad did it three times himself and now he’s taken the lessons he learned and turned them into a book and a presentation. Reservations are now being taken for the Annual Dinner as well as the half-day seminar he’ll conduct the next day in conjunction with Ohio University-Chillicothe. The time to sign up for both is now: Annual Dinner reservations Steve Little seminar reservations
STILL TIME TO VOTE: If you haven’t completed the economic survey sent earlier this week, you have until Monday to have your voice heard. The survey went to one representative of each chamber member. We’ve received more than 70 so far. Results will be published in next week’s newsletter. LOTS OF PRIZES AT BAB: Citizens National Bank and USEC, co-sponsors of the Dec. 21 Business After Business at the bank on West Main Street, both report there will be plenty of door prizes, including cash, given away at the event that runs 5-7 p.m. An item or two will be auctioned to benefit the cancer group’s Relay for Life fundraiser. Make sure to sign up: BAB registration OHIO SURVEY RESULTS: Health insurance cost – what else -- topped the list of issues of greatest concern to members of the Ohio Chamber of Commerce in a survey conducted last summer. Health costs garnered 86 percent while business taxes came in second at 72 percent (you could vote for more than one issue) while workers’ compensation was third at 56 percent. The survey also found that 68 percent of businesses would shift some additional costs of health care to employees if the General Assembly mandates more coverages.
