Chillicothe Ross Chamber of Commerce
Weekly Update November 7, 2003
SHOWROOM CHRISTENED: Dignitaries, friends and customers were on hand Thursday evening for the grand opening of the Mitsubishi showroom at the Herrnstein Chrysler Dodge Jeep Mitsubishi dealership on Marietta Road. Bart and Bill Herrnstein cut the ribbon on the showroom that also features a fine conference room and a new waiting area for the Service Department, complete with an aquarium and a flat-panel TV. A nice touch was the recognition of all the local businesses who served as contractors or suppliers during the construction.
ANNUAL DINNER EXCITEMENT BUILDS: Nearly 400 people already have made reservations for the chamber’s annual dinner meeting on Feb. 26 featuring OSU Coach Jim Tressel. A lottery was held to determine the winners of the 10 premium “up front” tables from the 21 entrants. In addition to those 10 we also have 23 other table sponsors. Because of the large crowd anticipated and the desire to get everyone in OU-C’s Shoemaker Center as quickly as possible, there will be assigned seating. Tickets will be mailed around the first of February and we will designate table numbers. We also hope to have ushers on hand to guide people to their tables. To reserve your tickets ($45 each) or table sponsorship ($150), call the chamber at 702-2722.
CONNECTOR TO OPEN: Dedication ceremonies are set for Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. for Veterans Parkway, the new connector from U.S. 50 to Pleasant Valley Road. The $3.1 million route will help relieve the load on Clinton Road, will allow for better and more service by the Pleasant Valley Regional Sewer District which helped finance the project, will include a bike trail and will include an entrance to the new soccer fields to be developed by the city. In about two weeks when the traffic signals at both ends of the parkway become operational, the Anderson Station Road connection to U.S. 50 across from Carter Lumber will be closed.
MORE JOBS ON THE WESTSIDE: And speaking of U.S. 50 west, a new building is going up soon near the new Dakota’s Roadhouse for a claims office for the unemployment section of the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services. This will mean 30-40 jobs for the area.
SAVE ON YOUR TAXES: Jerry Whited will help show you how for both your business and personal taxes at Wednesday’s Networking Luncheon. The partner in Whited Seigneur Sams and Rahe will be the guest speaker at the luncheon which starts at 11:30 a.m. at the Chillicothe Country Club. The cost is $10. Nominations will be good for three years. You may nominate using our online form or by requesting a form be faxed to you. Online forms are available by clicking here: Entrepreneur nomination or by going to the chamber’s homepage. NOW LOOKING FOR START-UPS: The ribbon was cut and the ground was broken last Friday on the new Endeavor Center next to the Ohio State University South Centers just south of Piketon. The business incubator and training center will take about 18 months to build. Anyone interested in learning more should contact Steve Shepherd at the center at 740-289-2071.
