| Volume 3, Issue 8 Friday, October 15, 2004 NEW TIM HORTON'S OPENS NEXT WEEK: The newest restaurant in the organization in Chillicothe is holding a ribbon-cutting Monday morning at 7:30 on East Main Street and all chamber members are invited for the ceremony and for breakfast afterward, compliments of owner Tim Sublett. MORE RESTAURANT CHANGES: Sean Immell is set to open his third restaurant with Blue Gill's out on North Bridge Street before Nov. 1, but before he does, he is treating his customers to one last day at his DeGarmo's Canal House Pastas at Water and Mulberry streets. That location will soon become a smokehouse/barbecue restaurant to be run by Dane Straub, former owner of the original Mr. Sub on Paint Street. Sean, whose first restaurant was Sunnybrook on Paint Street, said he is taking his pizza oven and the rights to the DeGarmo's name and some day soon hopes to re-open at another location. Word also is that the Diamond Head in the O'Dell Building on Paint Street will be going Italian under the auspices of owners from Columbus.
MEXICAN-FLAVORED BAB: Wednesday's Business After Business at Southeastern Business College and co-hosted by the Chillicothe Animal Clinic, will feature Mexican food and margaritas by the 17 East Restaurant and Lori Graves and desserts by Anne Pendell's Simply Sweets. Salsa and Tejano music will get you into the mood. It's from 5-7 p.m. at the school on Western Avenue. Make sure to register, though: BAB registration
SO WHAT IF THEY LOST? Huntington Bank's Delbert Bochard treated his wife and a few friends to some time on the field at Ohio Stadium last Saturday before the Buckeyes lost to Wisconsin. The once-in-a-lifetime honor also included being at midfield for the coin flip between the teams before the game. Relishing their time, from left, are Allen Rupiper of Adena Health System, Steve Burkhardt of Horizon Chillicothe Telephone, Leona and Del Bochard and Charlie Stevens of RLS Recycling. MEMBERSHIP DRIVE YIELDING RESULTS: The chamber's push to add new members before the Nov. 12 deadline is picking up speed. Don't forget, you can earn $1,000 by signing up 10 new members for the chamber. A great way to earn extra holiday money. Membership Drive Details. Joining this week were:
TOUGH SEASON AHEAD?: The outlook for retailers for the upcoming holiday season isn't too rosy, according to some sources. Especially for those who depend on low- and middle-income families. The indication, from Kiplinger's Forecasts, is for less than a 3% increase above last year, down from the 6% forecast in June. Signs touting half-off and 2-for-1 sales already are being printed as the large retailers look to maintain or increase market share. NOT TOO EARLY TO THINK ABOUT TAX CONSEQUENCES: A year-end tax planning seminar is being held by the McDonald Financial Group free of charge on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. at its office at 37 W. Second St. The featured speaker will be CPA Jerry Whited of chamber member Whited Seigneur Sams & Rahe. To reserve your spot, call 773-2163. Y OFFERING NEW PROGRAM: Jazzercise is now available at the YMCA of Ross County at 7:30 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays. Morning classes will be available next week. 772-4340 FRIDAY LAST DAY TO REGISTER: For the seminar on the Family and Medical Leave Act sponsored by the South Central Ohio Human Resources Council. The seminar itself, featuring a Department of Labor investigator, is Thursday from 9-11 a.m. at the Kenworth Truck Co. To reserve your spot, call Cheryl Barlage at 774-5181 or email her at cbarlage@paccar.com. YOUR GROUP LOOKING FOR A PROGRAM?
