20-UNDER PAR TAKES OUTING: The team from Hanson/Basic Construction Materials took first place in the chamber's annual golf outing held Thursday at Valley Vista Golf Course. The team, from left in photo, of Jim King, Jerry Nutt, Josh Newland and Mitch Hammel shot a 20-under score of 52. Twenty-five teams teed off on the picturesque course near Bainbridge under beautiful skies and warm temperatures. Complete results of the outing, including skill prize winners can be found here: Chamber golf outing results More photos from the outing will be available on the chamber website early next week.

NEW OWNERS HAVE BIG PLANS FOR SHAWNEE SQUARE: The acquisition of the Shawnee Square shopping center by Landmark Properties group of Pennsylvania should signal a rebirth of the center that had fallen on hard times. Bringing in new tenants and renovating the area will do much to attract more shoppers and solidify Chillicothe as a regional shopping/dining/entertainment hub for southern Ohio. COUNTY GOING TO THE DOGS: Specifically, hounds as the American Kennel Club World Coonhound Nite Hunt and Bench Show Championship is held all next week at the fairgrounds. Competition begins Monday night and is held each night until the championship on Saturday, Oct. 1. Opening ceremonies are 4 p.m. in the 4-H Building. The event is in conjunction with the Paint Creek Coon Hunters Association in Bainbridge and other clubs in this area of the state. Time to roll out the red carpet for the approximately 500 expected to participate.

BAB WAS AN ELEGANT AFFAIR: Nearly 150 people took advantage of the great weather to enjoy the hospitality, wonderful food and drink and great backyard setting at Wednesday's Business After Business at the Atwood House Bed & Breakfast on South Paint Street. Co-sponsored by Caldwell, Ott and Co., the event showcased the renovations of the historic downtown building, including the President's and Governor's bedrooms on the second floor. Next month's BAB is at Southeastern Business College on Western Avenue. Photos from this past BAB will be available on the chamber's website early next week.
