 Volume 2, Issue 45                                                    Friday, July 16, 2004

NEW LINE AN ANSWER TO THE FUTURE: The announcement this week of a new natural gas pipeline north of Chillicothe means another piece of the county's economic development puzzle will be in place. The more than two years of persistence (and investment) by the Community Improvement Corporation and its director, Dona Smith, means that industry and business looking to come to Ross County and those already here looking to expand can count on an adequate supply of gas. Rick Harper of YSK noted at Wednesday's press conference this will make it possible for the local plant to begin thinking about expansion, which wasn't possible until now. The line, which will be built by the end of the year, will run from Bridge Street to near the Kenworth Truck Company plant. The line is made possible by the cooperation of several companies and agencies in addition to the CIC: Utility Technologies Inc., MRS-Energy, Ross Energy, Columbia Gas of Ohio, the Ohio Department of Development and the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio.

IT'S BAB WEDNESDAY: Family Dental Center on Western Avenue is coordinating the Business After Business next week that runs 5-7 p.m. There will be the usual good food and beverages along with music and door prizes. Neighbors also will join in, including Curves, Boulevard Salon, Matt Edler of Edward Jones, The Body Zone and a couple others who are expected to join the chamber soon. Make sure to register, though: BAB registration

MEET THE NEW SUPER: A good chance to meet the new superintendent of Chillicothe City Schools, Michael Trego, will be Sunday from 4-5 p.m. A reception is being held in the Alumni Library at the high school on Yoctangee Parkway.

Physical changes will include a new patio on the south side and an opened area near the wine cellar. The menu will keep some of the old favorites, but will add homemade pastas, new sauces and desserts. Operating hours also will change to include seating on Sundays and closed on Mondays. It will have the only Sunday liquor service in town. All gift certificates from New York, New York will continue to be honored.

The luncheon Wednesday, July 28 starts at 11:30 at the Chillicothe Country Club.  This luncheon also features the "30-Second Commercial" available to all who attend. TESTIMONY GIVEN AT HEARING: Support for the rezoning of the Barlow property on Western Avenue was voiced by Marvin Jones, the executive director of the chamber, at Wednesday's meeting of the Chillicothe Planning Commission.
