OFFERING COMMUNITY'S SUPPORT: A contingent of local government
and business people visited with executives of the NewPage
Corporation in Dayton this week, offering assistance with any
transitions that might occur in the coming months. The group met
with Peter Vogel, president and CEO of NewPage, who explained the
possible future scenarios for ownership of the former local Mead
mills. The scenarios are those that have been reported: sale of the
mills to another company, sale to employees and management or a
restructuring under NewPage. All possibilities are being pursued,
said Vogel who also expressed his appreciation for the visit and the
offers of assistance. The local contingent: Commissioner Jim
Caldwell, Mayor Joe Sulzer, city Economic Development Director
Anthony Austin, Allen Rupiper representing the CIC and Marvin Jones
of the chamber.
BAB IS NEXT WEDNESDAY: The Chillicothe Jaycees will have the golf course, shelter and band all ready for Wednesday's Business After Business at the course on Pleasant Valley Road. For those who plan to participate in the pre-BAB nine-hole golf outing, the shotgun start is at 3. Other festivities begin at 5 in and around the shelter.
