IT’S OFFICIAL: RICART’S DEALIN’ TO NOURSE: Ricart formally announced Thursday it had sold its Ford dealership in Shawnee Square to the Nourse Automotive Group. In a story on the “Columbus Business First” website, Dick Nourse said he regretted selling the dealership in 2001 to Ricart almost immediately. “Chillicothe is our home and we have a considerable investment there,” he said. Fred Ricart added, “The people of Chillicothe are wonderful, but this sale makes sense from a business perspective.”

A FEW SPOTS LEFT FOR FREE GOLF OUTING: The Chillicothe Jaycees have spots for a few more teams for its free nine-hole golf outing before the July 20 Business After Business. The outing is limited to the first 26 teams and has a shotgun start at 3 p.m. This allows the players to enjoy the BAB which will be held in the shelterhouse and features music by Sidetrack. To get your team in the golf outing, call the Jaycees pro shop at 775-7659. Make sure also to register for the BAB itself: BAB registration

SEE THE STARS UP CLOSE: Former OSU football standout Ben Hartsock, now with the Indianapolis Colts, and former basketball Olympian Cindy Noble Houserman are two of the several stars expected to be at a special public reception Saturday 1-3 p.m. at the McDonald’s Restaurant at Bridge and Second streets. Memorabilia of Hartsock, Houserman and many other former star athletes in Ross County are on display as the décor for the eatery. Following the McDonald’s reception, Hartsock will be joined by Krystal Tharp and Tokey Hill at the 6 p.m. pre-game show at the Chillicothe Paints game presented by Athletic Academic Achievement. Saturday is Ross County Night at VA Stadium with free tickets available up until 5 p.m. Friday at the chamber office at 45 E. Main St.

AND IN KEEPING WITH THIS SPORTS THEME: The annual raffle by the Ross County chapter of the OSU Alumni is under way. No more than 250 tickets at $25 each are being sold with the winner receiving a season ticket to the football Buckeyes. More information is available: www.alumni-osu.org/ross.

SUPPORT AND EXPOSURE IN ONE PACKAGE: Connie Smart of Panther Publishing plans to begin making calls on members next week to advertise in the 2006 chamber directory which will be available in January. Your ad is seen by other chamber members and goes out in our packages to people looking to relocate to Chillicothe and prospective businesses considering Chillicothe as well as many others. And since a percentage of the ad sales come back to the chamber, it allows the chamber to carry out its mission. When you get that call, you’ll know the value of advertising. And if you can’t wait for Connie to call you to reserve your space, give her a call at 772-2165.

MORE DISCOUNTS AVAILABLE TO MEMBERS: Two more members announced recently they are offering special discounts exclusively to other chamber members. Accurate Heating and Cooling will give members 10 percent off the cost of a residential service call during normal business hours. Scioto Micro is offering 10 percent off all its services which includes virus/spyware elimination, tune-ups, etc., on your or your company’s computers. Check out all the discounts now available: Discounts for members
