New chamber tradition begins

Bob McKell Tom McKell Pat Highland

The honoring of six companies and three individuals with Great Seal Awards Wednesday is the start of what is hoped to be a new tradition for the chamber. The monthly Membership Luncheon at the Chillicothe Country Club served as the venue for the ceremony in which 75 members, employees and family of the honorees attended. The awards are designed to give recognition beyond the Entrepreneur of the Year Award which has been handed out for 20 years at the Annual Dinner in February. More than 20 nominations were reviewed by the Awards Committee which made the selections. Winning the awards Wednesday were:

  • Lifetime Achievement: Bob and Tom McKell of Horizon Chillicothe Telephone and Pat Highland of Shawnee Lanes.
  • Company awards: Petland, Anderson's Drug Store, Henderson Pharmacy Services, Kenworth Truck Company, Chillicothe Fire & Security and  G&J Pepsi.

ALLIANCE HIRES FIRST CEO: A 33-year veteran of economic development and chamber work becomes the first CEO of the Economic Development Alliance of Southern Ohio on July 24. Christopher Manegold comes to the alliance after three years with an economic development agency in Wyoming. The 56-year-old Cincinnati native also has worked in various capacities in Michigan, Illinois and Indiana. He and his wife Barb will be moving to the area soon. He will be working in the chamber's Welcome Center and receiving support services from the chamber. For more information on the announcement, click here.

The offer is on a first-come, first-served basis as we have only a limited supply of tickets. To reserve yours, call Rosie at the chamber at 702-2722.
