Tickets will go in the mail by early next week for the Feb. 17 event. Table sponsorships for $125 are still available by contacting the chamber at 702-2722. RICKENBACKER PROJECT COULD HAVE IMPACT HERE: The Columbus Regional Airport Authority and railroad company Norfolk Southern Corp. are looking to build what's known as an intermodal facility near the Rickenbacker airport. The project would be an intermediary shipping point where goods coming in by ship in containers to a port on the east or west coast would arrive at the facility by train and then be loaded onto trucks to be taken to their final destination. It would encompass 300 acres in northern Pickaway County adjacent to the airport, cost more than $65 million and employ thousands. Construction could begin later this year. NEW PROGRAM COULD FURTHER REDUCE PREMIUMS: The Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation is now offering a program that would give 40 percent premium discounts to companies that have had only one significant claim. Several criteria must be followed, but it's recognition that sometimes companies with usually good safety records sometimes have just one lapse. Those companies that might qualify can expect to receive information by mail this month. More is available at www.ohiobwc.com. TIME TO PLAN, NOT PLANT: The Chillicothe Farmers Market is preparing for the upcoming season with an informational meeting for individuals interested in joining the market association. The session is at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 22 in Room C at the Ross County Service Center. The market this year will run Saturdays from May 7 to Oct. 8. More information is available by calling Bart Henshaw at 773-6702 or emailing Betsy Pierson at bbp@horizonview.net. ROSES TO HELP SHELTER: The Chillicothe Social Society is teaming with Community Markets to sell roses at Chillicothe restaurants two days before Valentine's Day on Saturday, Feb. 12. The $5-per-rose proceeds go toward restoration of the Phoenix House of the Ross County Coalition Against Domestic Violence. Chamber-member participating restaurants are Blue Gill's, Dakota's, Damon's, Max & Erma's, The Dock at Water, The Filling Station and Portabella's. PIONEER CENTER SEEKS AWARD NOMINATIONS: Nine awards will be given to individuals and organizations to honor their contributions in the field of developmental disabilities at the annual awards event of Pioneer Center on March 31. Nominations are now being accepted for the various awards. Forms are available at www.thepioneercenter.com and click on "Upcoming Events." The deadline for nominations is Feb. 18.
