RECORD MONTH FOR CHAMBER WEBSITE: Nearly 18,200 visits were paid to the chamber’s website in January by 8,066 visitors who viewed 34,295 pages, according to our third-party tracker. A big reason for the jump from 13,800 visits in December was the increasing popularity of our Job Bank page. Employers and job-seekers alike are finding this free job-opening service invaluable. That page alone was viewed 13,836 times in January, an average of 446 times a day. Since July 2004 when statistics were first recorded, there has been a 61 percent increase in the number of visits. WEBSITE HAS NEW LOOK: Getting an overhaul and modernization lately was the website of the Paint Valley ADAMH board. Penny Dehner, director of information management, recently completed the project. The site also will help promote passage of the board’s requested 1.25-mill levy that will be on the May 2 primary ballot. According to Executive Director Matthew Markley, the levy will help make up the difference from state and federal funds that have not kept up with inflation or been reduced in some cases. Check out the revised website at www.pvadamh.org.

SEMINAR TO AID ENTREPRENEURS, NEW BUSINESSES: The OSU South Centers Business Development Network is holding its next “Building Your Own Business” seminar Wednesday here at the chamber from 9-11 a.m. The seminar covers management, marketing and money. The registration fee is $20. Contact Kelly O’Bryant at 740-289-2071 Ext. 111 or obryant5@ag.osu.edu.

MANAGING CLAIMS ON THE MENU: Susan Mauck from the Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation and Dr. Hill from the Adena Health System will discuss claims management at Thursday's luncheon of the Ross County Safety Council. Attendance at the luncheon counts toward the requirements to receive the BWC incentive in the fall. Safety Council luncheon registration

HEALTH INSURER BREAKS BARRIERS: Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, which has a partnership with the chamber, announced this week it is changing some of its rules that will allow more smaller businesses access to coverage. One rule change: No longer do 50 percent of employees need to enroll for a company to offer coverage. Check with your insurance agent to see if your business now can acquire coverage or get better coverage.

NEW TRAINING CENTER TO BE IN BAB SPOTLIGHT: The new classrooms in Shoemaker Center at Ohio University-Chillicothe will be open for inspection at the next Business After Business on Wednesday, Feb. 15.
