ANNUAL DINNER A TIME TO CELEBRATE: The chamber’s Annual Dinner each year is not only a time for members to get together and enjoy a meal, but it’s also a time to celebrate the successes of the organization and to recognize those people who helped make it happen. It’s a time to become re-energized about the mission of the chamber. On the program in addition to our guest speaker, Steven S. Little, are recognition of new and departing board members, introduction of the Leadership Chillicothe Ross participants, announcement of the Volunteer of the Year for the chamber and the naming of the newest in a long line of Entrepreneurs of the Year. The event is Wednesday, Feb. 22 in Shoemaker Center at Ohio University-Chillicothe. It begins with the social hour at 6 and dinner at 7 followed by the program. The cost is $45 per person and table sponsorships are $125. We’d be happy to make your reservation today: 2006 Annual Dinner reservations

OHIO CHAMBER TO DETAIL AGENDA: Linda Woggon, the vice president for governmental affairs of the Ohio Chamber of Commerce, will talk about initiatives the state chamber is backing with the General Assembly this year at Wednesday’s Networking Luncheon. The cost is $15 per person and each company gets 30 seconds to introduce themselves and talk about their latest news. Networking Luncheon reservations

UNITED WAY OVER THE TOP: Thanks to substantial gifts from two major employers, the United Way of Ross County was able to exceed its goal this year by 11 percent. NewPage employees pledged $53,000 and combined with the record-setting $219,000 from the PACCAR Foundation and $61,000 from Kenworth employees, the amount raised was $750,374, well above the goal of $675,000. There is still time to make a pledge that will help 17 agencies in the area: info@unitedwayross.org.

BAB WAS ILLUMINATING: More than 100 chamber members and their guests got an up-close look at the latest technology for medical scans at Wednesday's Business After Business at ProScan Imaging. The North Bridge Street office of the Cincinnati-based company hosted the event to better familiarize people with the equipment used by doctors and chiropractors to diagnose injuries and disease. Next month's BAB will be at Shoemaker Center of OU-C. Photos of Wednesday's BAB.

PET PEEVE WITH BWC?: When it comes to navigating the claims process at the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation, problems and obstacles could stand in the way. Mary Charney wants to know about those problems or obstacles so that she can try and get answers for you at the next luncheon of the Ross County Safety Council on Feb. 9. Email Mary, a co-chairman of the council’s Steering Committee, at mcharney@adena.org who will forward them to Susan Mauk of the BWC and Dr. Jeffrey Hill of Adena, the speakers at the luncheon. Make sure to register: Safety Council luncheon registration
