Expo/BAB moving; price lowered on spaces Professional piping and draping and larger exhibit spaces are two of the changes being made for this year’s chamber Business Expo and Business After Business.
A major sponsorship for the Expo also is available for $1,200. In exchange for your fee, you will receive a double space in a premium, high-traffic area; recognition on all promotional mentions, including the weekly newsletter and website; notation on the sign at the Expo; public address mentions of your sponsorship several times during the Expo; three minutes to address the participants from the stage; notation on the website where we’ll post photos. To take advantage of this offer, you’ll need to call the chamber at 702-2722. As in the past, exhibitors also provide a door prize with a value of at least $25. Exhibitors also get two free tickets to man their exhibit while additional tickets will cost $5, the same as the admission price. Free pizza again will be provided to those attending while beer and soft drinks will be offered for sale. The event will run from 5-8 p.m. In the past, more than 200 have attended. DONUT SHOP GOING OUT WEST: Brenda Arledge will be opening her new Donut Shop on Star Drive off Western Avenue, according to a building permit issued recently. You’ll recall she had to move from her former location on Marietta Road, just off Bridge Street, to make way for a new convenience store/gas station.
BUDGETING FOR NEXT YEAR: Plan on pay raises in the range of 3.8 percent and 8 percent hikes in health insurance costs, according to The Kiplinger Letter. It also notes that commercial insurance rates may drop 11 percent on average while property insurance is slated to go up 3 percent. As always, check with your providers to get the best possible handle on next year’s rates.
DOWNTOWN PROPERTY OWNERS GATHER: More than 20 owners of property in downtown Chillicothe got together Thursday for lunch. The meeting was a follow-up of a focus group of owners held during the compilation of information that went into the HyettPalma Downtown Economic Enhancement Strategic Plan. After the focus group met, many decided it would be good to meet occasionally to discuss issues such as property maintenance and Design Review Board guidelines.
BAB GUESTS WIN HIGH-TECH PRIZES: Advantage Data Systems teamed with a couple other businesses to hand out plenty of prizes at Wednesday’s Business After Business on North Plaza Boulevard. Some of the approximately 150 participants left with Dell printers, jump drives and antivirus software in addition to coin sorters and reading lamps from National City and gift certificates and t-shirts from Roosters, which opened in Circleville a few months back and is opening Nov. 18 after it renovates the former Damon’s. Next month’s BAB is set for Oct. 17 at Samuel Stephen College on Ohio 104 north. Check out more photos from Wednesday’s BAB: www.chillicothe-chamber.smugmug.com.
