Attendance up to 400
for Annual Dinner Tickets were being mailed today and Friday to those who already have registered for the chamber's Annual Dinner next Thursday featuring Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland. It will be the third largest crowd for the dinner, ranking right behind 2004's when OSU Coach Jim Tressel was the guest speaker and 2003's when OSU player Ben Hartsock spoke on the team's national championship. Monday at noon is the deadline to make a reservation: Annual Dinner reservation. The event at Shoemaker Convocation Center at Ohio University-Chillicothe starts with a social hour at 6 with a cash bar featuring wine at $3 a glass, $2 for beer and $1 for soft drinks, The dinner starts at 7 and the program around 7:45. Remember that parking will be at a premium as students will be attending classes and there is a function at the nearby Child and Family Development Center.
DOWNTOWN BOARD ADOPTS POLICIES: The Design Review Board, which oversees the exterior appearance of structures in the historic downtown district, voted unanimously in January to use three color charts for future applications for those wishing to paint their buildings. The charts from Sherwin-Williams are the Classic Colonial, Arts & Crafts and Victorian. Check them out here: Sherwin-Williams charts. The board also agreed it will make every effort to work with companies wishing to use their national logos in signage. The board also discussed the use of more modern materials for signs that still allow for a more natural look. On the board now are Joe Molnar (chairman), Dustin Proehl (vice chairman), Bart Henshaw, Ron Bettin and Tom Castor. OFFICE UNDER NEW OWNERSHIP: Janney Montgomery Scott LLC has taken over the former office of McDonald and Company at 37 W. Second St. John Schwemlein remains as the manager while Ben Schwemlein, Clare Schwemlein, John Herrnstein, Ann Holmes and Laura Wilson also remain in the office. Janney also has offices in Marietta, Painesville and Salem in Ohio. JAYCEES HAVE NEW OFFICERS: Amy Mears of Mears Photography is the new president for the Chillicothe Jaycees while Todd Ramsey is internal vice president and Angela Lochbaum of Chillicothe Fire and Security is external vice president. Other officers are Seth Brown of Globe Furniture as treasurer, Carolyn Evans of John Taylor Insurance as secretary and Joe Kutschbach as state director. PROGRAM HELPS EMPLOYERS, NEW EMPLOYEES: The Ross County Department of Job and Family Services has a new subsidized wage employment program starting in March. Qualified employers receive reimbursement for the initial 12 weeks of a qualified new employee. The program's intent is to give participants a steady work environment and offer them opportunities for employment over assistance. PETLAND ANNOUNCES STAFF ADDITIONS: Julie Washburn is the new public relations and Adopt-A-Pet coordinator at Petland Inc. headquarters in Hickory Street.
