Committee reviewing possibilities In 1998, Chillicothe City Council and the Ross County Board of Commissioners adopted a Thoroughfare Plan to guide decisions by both on future highway and road improvements. Earlier this year, an Oversight Committee was formed to update the plan. A Technical Advisory Subcommittee of the group also was formed to look at potential major projects. Below is the first report of the subcommittee which is recommending five projects. Below are aerials showing the projects (dotted lines). The projects are: I. Extending Ohio 207 from its new connection to U.S. 23 eastward to connect with Ohio 180 at Kinnikinnick. II. Create an interchange on U.S. 23 utilizing current roads into the weight stations, if the Ohio Department of Transportation abandons the scales. The interchange would allow access from Seney and Marietta roads. III. Add a lane to northbound Bridge Street from Stewart Road (Wal-Mart, Nourse and Kohl's entrance) to Marietta Road. Also, add a lane in both directions on U.S. 35 from Bridge Street to Ohio 104 over the Scioto River. IV. Connect Massieville Road to Three Locks Road and close the intersection at Cauble and Maple roads. V. Widen Western Avenue from Stanhope Drive to near Veterans Parkway with multiple lanes and access roads. This was the number one priority of the subcommittee.
